This summer when we arrived home from vacation we discovered an adorable gray kitten had been dropped off at the end of our street. We live on a dead end and so this tends to happen from time to time. After a little bit of begging from the kids and lots of promises to always clean the litter box, feed, water, and play with her we decided that the timing was right to add a pet to our family. If you follow along … …..
The Crayola product, gift card, information, and additional gift pack have been provided by Crayola. While I wouldn’t always call myself crafty, I do become the crafting queen when it comes to my kids, especially when I can use kid-friendly supplies. Who doesn’t want those adorable crafts at Christmas time that you know the kiddos have poured their heart and soul into (and little messy hands, of course)? This year we decided to do a fun craft for the boys’ Mamaw that will fit perfectly up on her fireplace mantle among her snowman collection. Plus it was great using a … …..
I absolutely adore our Christmas tree this year and all the handmade ornaments give it this warm fuzzy feeling that just doesn’t come from shiny glass ornaments. Even though we didn’t use glass or shatterproof ornaments I decided that I still wanted ball shaped handmade ornaments to hang from the tree and so I came up with this idea. SUPPLIES: styrofoam balls yarn thick thread buttons hot glue gun & sticks Begin by putting a small dab of hot glue on the styrofoam ball and attach yarn in a squished u shape. Continue to apply small amount of glue in … …..
The one handmade item that really makes our Christmas tree pop is the popcorn and cranberry garland. It might seem so simple that you’re wondering why I am even devoting a blog post to it, but I have some tips to make the process much easier. SUPPLIES: plain popcorn cranberries needle waxed floss 1.) Make plain popcorn – since we don’t have an air popper I just made some in a pot on the stove. I put three tablespoons of oil in a large pot and 1/2 cup of unpopped kernels. Then I covered it and allowed it to vent … …..
When I got the idea to decorate our entire Christmas tree with handmade ornaments this year I wasn’t positive I could pull it off, but I did and it looks amazing. Today I am going to share how to make dried orange ornaments. When the holidays are over we put our tree outside and let the local animals, mostly squirrels, eat the edible parts of the decorations…. oranges, apples, cranberries, popcorn SUPPLIES: oranges knife cutting board oven string cranberries needle 1.) Cut oranges in 1/4″ slices. 2.) Lay oranges on paper towels in a single layer. 3.) Place another paper … …..
I decided that this year I wanted our Christmas tree to be made of entirely handmade ornaments. The only thing that will be store bought is the white lights. And so I thought it would be fun to write little tutorials on all the different ornaments I have been making. Over the next few weeks I will be writing quite a few tutorials and hope you will try them out as well. DRIED APPLE ORNAMENTS Supplies: Apples Lemon Juice Salt Knife Bowl Baking Sheet Cutting Board Raffia Buttons Fabric (small pieces of scrap fabric will work) 1.) Prepare the salt … …..
Today I hit up some local craft shows with my momma and the girls who were amazingly well behaved. For a moment I wondered if I got them switched with someone else’s kiddos, hehe, just kidding! Before today I was already in a Christmas-y mood and have had the itch to decorate the house even though Halloween hasn’t even passed yet. Today when I bought some awesome holiday decor the itch got stronger…. seriously how cute are these! And so this got me thinking… I would love to do a Christmas tree of all handmade ornaments with the only things … …..
I did a little art project with Dilly today and thought I would share how to make one with your little munchkins too. I would love to do this with Sugar, but she is still at an age where she keeps her little chubby hands in tight fists and that definitely won’t work for this project. Perhaps I could figure out a version to do with her foot though….. I will have to think about that. Anyhow, here is how to make a Santa handprint with your little one. Supplies: ornate picture frame… I got mine at a garage … …..
