This Christmas, we’ve decided to really focus on STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math) gifts rather than toys with lots of lights, sounds, and batteries. We’ve realized that almost all of the toys that our kids tend to play with over and over are STREAM toys anyway, and right now, some of their very favorites are building block and snap together sets. After building one thing, they pass it on to the next brother, combine some different sets, and create something completely different. It’s the perfect way to keep their minds and hands busy without the need for … …..
This post and giveaway is sponsored by Blendy Pens. However, all thoughts and opinions are 100% honest and completely my own. School is in full swing already, and it’s hard to believe, but I’m already gearing up for the holidays. I’ve been hiding and stashing little gifts for Christmas here and there, grabbing things of interest as I go. While some of my kids are hard to buy for, Reese, my second child, is probably one of the easiest. I know any gift will always be a big hit if it allows him to draw or use his creativity, which … …..
Life with four girls is getting crazier as each year passes. We currently have three playing soccer, two taking swimming lessons, and my oldest is running her first 5k on Saturday. Add in my wild child two year old and I barely get a moment to sit down. All that running can leave my husband and I feeling rather parched. And so when he needs a caffeine pick me up his first stop is always Circle K. Today is the first day of spring and the weather forecast is looking promising for warmer temperatures. I hate to wish spring away, but I just can’t wait for summer to get here to spend our days playing by the pool. Luckily in Ohio we have some amazing indoor water parks available and two weeks ago we visited one of our favorites – Castaway Bay – in Sandusky, Ohio. That weekend getaway helped my girls to beat some of their winter boredom blues and also sparked their excitement for summer to get here quickly too. When entering the Castaway Bay … …..
Have you started Christmas shopping yet? I am slowly beginning to check names off of my list. When it comes to gift giving I like to put a lot of thought into what I choose for each of my children. There is one company that I can always depend on for high quality toys that provide hours of open ended play for my little ones. That encourages my children to use the most powerful thing they will ever play with – their imagination. Toys that don’t require batteries. That are made with wood from sustainable forests and decorated with water … …..
Every year it seems like we need to do a big toy sweep in the weeks leading up to Christmas to make room for the new toys that will brought home after holidays with the family. While there is a place and time for the exciting new electronic toys and building sets with billions of tiny pieces, there’s a special spot in my heart for the simple, imaginative toys that have very few parts and can last for years. This holiday season, Manhattan Toy (whom we LOVE!) has created a special line of open-ended play toys for parents just like … …..
Since our sweet 4-month-old boy is our last baby, we’re trying to soak in and savor every new milestone, skill, and smile he throws our way. I think I could never tire of watching him learn his current skill of grabbing items of interest and inspecting them. I love seeing his chubby little fingers grasping new objects and turning them over and around, with smiles and looks of awe. Throughout this stage of discovery, toys that pique his interest and encourage exploration are important to keep around. The Manhattan Toy Company is one company that I know I can rely … …..
The overwhelming feeling of responsibility I felt when my first daughter was placed in my arms after her birth was a tad terrifying. This cuddly little screaming bundle of joy that we were already so in love with would depend on us for everything. And we didn’t have a clue what we were doing. I remember coming home from the hospital, setting the infant carrier on the floor in the living room, and then thinking “now what?” Fast forward eight years and I now have a third grader along with her three younger siblings. That overwhelming feeling of responsibility? It’s … …..
My little Lilah Rose is going to be celebrating her second birthday in just a few months and I suspect shortly after that we have the possibility of being a diaper free household. Well at least with my girls that is. Three to four days a week I have the pleasure of snuggling with my precious nephew while his mama and daddy are at work. He’s almost five months old which means I’ve got lots more diaper changes coming my way. One things for sure with the motherhood experience of four kiddos of my own I have definitely figured out … …..
