Have you started Christmas shopping yet? I am slowly beginning to check names off of my list. When it comes to gift giving I like to put a lot of thought into what I choose for each of my children. There is one company that I can always depend on for high quality toys that provide hours of open ended play for my little ones. That encourages my children to use the most powerful thing they will ever play with – their imagination. Toys that don’t require batteries. That are made with wood from sustainable forests and decorated with water … …..
Christmas will be here before we know it and I admit that I have been starting to panic a bit. I have literally only purchased 3 gifts so far and don’t have a clue what my two oldest daughters are hoping Santa brings. Even though I really want to decorate the house I am secretly cringing a bit inside because this year there is a two year old roaming the house – not to mention the cat. But there is one thing that I have officially checked off my holiday to-do list thanks to Portrait Innovations. Just last week I … …..
Every year it seems like we need to do a big toy sweep in the weeks leading up to Christmas to make room for the new toys that will brought home after holidays with the family. While there is a place and time for the exciting new electronic toys and building sets with billions of tiny pieces, there’s a special spot in my heart for the simple, imaginative toys that have very few parts and can last for years. This holiday season, Manhattan Toy (whom we LOVE!) has created a special line of open-ended play toys for parents just like … …..
Since our sweet 4-month-old boy is our last baby, we’re trying to soak in and savor every new milestone, skill, and smile he throws our way. I think I could never tire of watching him learn his current skill of grabbing items of interest and inspecting them. I love seeing his chubby little fingers grasping new objects and turning them over and around, with smiles and looks of awe. Throughout this stage of discovery, toys that pique his interest and encourage exploration are important to keep around. The Manhattan Toy Company is one company that I know I can rely … …..
I never imagined when we first discussed having a big family that it would be a family of four boys. Of course I now couldn’t imagine life any other way, but oh my, the adventures these boys can dream up and get into! They seem to love any toy that they can pretend play with, but the more bells, whistles, and gadgets to explore, the better the toy fits them. We love VTech’s Go! Go! Smart Wheels line, and we recently had the opportunity to try out the new Go! Go! Smart Wheels® Treasure Mountain Train Adventure™, and it certainly … …..
A few months ago I wrote a blog post sharing a yummy new snack Lilah and I discovered while browsing around our favorite store – Target. Curious if she still loves Gerber Lil’ Beanies? Most definitely. In fact she won’t let me pass through the toddler food and snack aisle without practically lunging out of the shopping cart to grab some more Gerber Lil’ Beanies. I always make sure to grab both flavors, Original and White Cheddar & Broccoli, because Lilah loves them both. Right now is a great time to stock up because there is an awesome cash back … …..
When I say we live a busy lifestyle I truly mean it. At the moment I am writing a blog post while simultaneously watching my tween kill it at soccer practice. We spend four evenings a week at practices and one morning at games. Soon Alleigh will also be starting swimming lessons and giving basketball a try for the first time. Each day when I pick my tween up from school we head home, complete homework, and then head out to extracurricular activities. I had been struggling to find a healthy snack that she enjoys and will also fill her up to give … …..
My little Lilah Rose is going to be celebrating her second birthday in just a few months and I suspect shortly after that we have the possibility of being a diaper free household. Well at least with my girls that is. Three to four days a week I have the pleasure of snuggling with my precious nephew while his mama and daddy are at work. He’s almost five months old which means I’ve got lots more diaper changes coming my way. One things for sure with the motherhood experience of four kiddos of my own I have definitely figured out … …..
School is back in full swing again, and a sense of routine is beginning. My maternity leave has also ended, and I’m getting in the groove of working again, just with another little person at home waiting for me! With all of the routines comes homework each night, running kids to school, and sports practices. It also seems to come with a healthy dose of back-to-school grouchiness in the evenings. We’ve tried a few strategies this year to combat new routine stress like spending evenings outdoors, going for walks, and playing some games. While we all love games, it’s sometimes … …..
Life has been rather crazy around the Harper household. We just got back from our family vacation to Destin, Florida. Alleigh and Kaelyn had their first day back to school. And soccer season started again. I’ve been running here and there and everywhere while working up a sweat in this hot humid weather. And I’m not just talking about my pits. Before I go any further I’m just going to throw out a friendly public service announcement that this post is for the ladies. And so if you don’t have a V then you might want to click over to … …..
